What is Kybella®?

How is the Kybella® procedure performed?
The procedure involves the use a small needle to make multiple injections of the Kybella® solution directly into the fat in the targeted area. There may be mild discomfort at the time of treatment. For the subsequent few hours there may be tenderness and discomfort but it usually disappears after a few hours. In some patients, residual discomfort may last for a few days after the treatment. There is no downtime and no bandaging is required. All activities may be resumed immediately after treatment.
How does Kybella® compare to Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure in which fat is suctioned out of your body. It is usually accomplished in one session, and after treatment, bandages are worn. With Kybella®, the fat is dissolved non-surgically, usually during 2 – 4 sessions. There is no bandaging required and all activities may be resumed immediately. Treatments are administered at intervals of 6 weeks.
How long will Kybella® fat reduction last?
The results of this procedure are permanent because once the fat cells are removed, they do not regenerate.
Are there any side effects with Kybella®?
Shortly after treatment is administered, there will be redness and swelling of the area. In addition, there may be some tenderness. Swelling typically resolves within 2 weeks after treatment.
How soon will I see results with Kybella®?
In some patients, reduction in submental fat may be apparent a few weeks after the first treatment. The reduction in fat continues during the subsequent weeks. After 6 weeks, a second treatment may be administered in those who seek further improvement.
