1927nm & 1550nm Fractional Non-Ablative Laser Rejuvenation

The 1927nm and 1550nm fractional lasers are designed to emit microbeams of laser light, also known as fractional laser energy. These advanced non-ablative technologies allow treatment of both superficial and deeper skin concerns while minimizing downtime compared to traditional ablative resurfacing lasers.

The 1927nm wavelength primarily targets superficial pigmentation and sun-damaged skin, while the 1550nm wavelength penetrates deeper into the dermis to stimulate collagen remodeling and improve acne scars, wrinkles, and skin texture.

Because fractional laser treatment leaves surrounding tissue intact, healing is faster and safer for multiple treatment areas beyond the face. In addition to sun-damaged skin, these lasers may improve acne scarring, surgical scars, stretch marks, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, and overall skin texture.

How Is Laser Rejuvenation Performed?

The laser consists of microscopic beams of light directed into the skin in an attempt to selectively alter damaged epidermal and dermal tissue. This controlled laser injury stimulates the body to produce new epidermal cells, dermal collagen, and hyaluronic acid.

The 1927nm wavelength focuses more superficially to improve pigmentation, sun damage, and uneven skin tone. The 1550nm wavelength penetrates deeper to improve collagen production, acne scars, wrinkles, and textural irregularities.

A topical anesthetic cream is typically applied before treatment to maximize comfort.

Can Other Areas Besides the Face Be Treated?

Yes. Since fractional rejuvenation with the 1927nm and 1550nm lasers does not produce full surface ablation, almost any area of skin can be treated. Common treatment areas include the neck, chest, arms, hands, back, and legs.

This differs from traditional ablative resurfacing lasers, which are often limited primarily to facial treatments due to longer healing times and increased recovery.

How Many Treatments Are Required?

Several treatment sessions are often recommended depending on the condition being treated and the desired level of improvement, although many patients notice visible improvement after the first treatment.

Treatments are typically spaced several weeks apart for optimal collagen remodeling and skin rejuvenation.

Who Can Be Treated?

Fractional laser resurfacing may be customized for many skin types and skin concerns. During consultation, treatment settings are selected based on skin type, pigmentation, and individual treatment goals.

Patients with sun damage, uneven pigmentation, acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and rough skin texture may benefit from treatment.

What Can I Expect After Treatment?

Following treatment, the skin commonly becomes somewhat red and swollen immediately afterward. Patients may also experience warmth, dryness, bronzing, or a temporary sandpaper-like texture.

These effects typically resolve within several days depending on treatment intensity and the wavelength utilized. Superficial 1927nm treatments often heal more quickly, while deeper 1550nm treatments may require additional recovery time.

Improvement continues gradually over the following weeks and months as collagen remodeling occurs.

Are There Any Limitations After Treatment?

Patients may usually resume most normal activities shortly after treatment. However, significant sun exposure should be avoided until redness and irritation have resolved.

Daily sunscreen use and proper skincare are important during the healing process to optimize results and minimize complications.

Patients should also avoid excessive heat, strenuous exercise, and irritating skincare products for the first 24–48 hours following treatment.

Consultation

A consultation is recommended to determine the most appropriate treatment plan based on skin type, degree of sun damage, pigmentation, scarring, and overall cosmetic goals. Combination treatment protocols may be recommended to achieve optimal rejuvenation results.

Dr. Green has been my dermatologist for nearly ten years. He has consistently provided excellent service, is NEVER in a rush to finish my procedure(s), and his charges for services are very reasonable. In my experience, it was essential to him that I completely understand the result the procedure would provide. He always listened to what I wanted and the result I believed the procedure would give me, and he thoroughly discussed the likelihood of success of that procedure. More than once, he convinced me advised against a procedure. I always appreciated his concern that I was pleased with the result of any procedure. In addition, he was always kind, professional and caring. You will never find a better doctor anywhere.
